What we’re building.

Big questions

Each cycle asks what smart organisations are still getting wrong — and goes looking for the answers everyone else is missing.

Real evidence

Psychologists, researchers and practitioners studying the capabilities that decide what happens when a plan meets pressure.

Your perspective

Members shape the work through surveys and early feedback, then receive previews and findings as Cycle 2 unfolds.

Cycle 2 launches in

66days

94% of women in the C-Suite surveyed by EY and espnW had played sport. Sport does not automatically create leadership. But it gives people repeated practice in pressure, feedback, setbacks, teamwork and decisions made in public. Source: EY & espnW, “Where Will You Find Your Next Leader?”

Cycle 2 explores how and why sport makes these capabilities visible. A plan can look sound until pressure arrives. Then people have to respond to feedback, recover from mistakes, communicate across differences, create options and act when holding back feels safer.

About

Welcome to the THiNK Tank.

The THiNK Tank examines the gap between what we say matters and what people experience in practice.

We use research, real stories and public participation to understand why that gap persists, and what might close it.

Cycle One · Complete

Aspiration vs reality

Aged care and service delivery in regional and remote Australia — examining the gap between national aspirations and lived reality.

Cycle Two · September 2026

Impact Skills

The capabilities that distinguish people under pressure, explored through sport and how they carry into work and life.

THiNK is a Macquarie University initiative, connecting research, sport and community to make these capabilities visible, understandable and useful.
